Motivation is a great.

It is powerful.

It is also…fleeting.

Discipline keeps you going when you don’t want to, or when you don’t think you have the capacity. I will speak personally here, I have had my share of injuries. I even had a blood clot in my leg earlier in the year. At that point I was beyond frustrated and pissed that I wasn’t able to train like I normally would or do anything I wanted to do. So what did I do? I could have made excuses and used it as reason to slack off. I didn’t. I still continued to train four days a week. Did it look different? Absolutely. Did it feel different? You bet. However, I had to maintain my habit of consistently training to be healthy and to continually improve. Bottom line: discipline is what keeps you coming day in and day out. You know, it’s the little things that will add up to major results. Small improvements over time, done consistently, is what adds up to success and ultimately it is what adds up to greatness. Nothing in the short term. Little things added up, consistently, being disciplined consistently will get you where you want to go.
