Testimonials: Nutrition Clients

Natalie Williams

Natalie Williams

Natalie Williams is a newer member of our Unbreakable Community and joined our U-22 Challenge that started on January 3. Thus far she has seen incredible progress. Here is her experience so so far in her own words.
“I really really enjoy this challenge. My partner Leticia and I have really hit it off with weekly phone calls/ and texts throughout the week. I think she really has a lot of information that helps and motivates me. Personally, I have had some of the best workouts of my life OUTSIDE the gym that I wouldnt have been able to do let alone come up with on my own 2 months ago. I think some big wins include calorie tracking, which I have never done before on a consistent daily basis. Also, connecting to people is so so beautiful. I feel like mentally it has been like an antidote to a lot stress and helps me process things better. I have gotten into reading as a prep to reading the book I chose.
Overall, I have not felt this healthy or a drive to be healthy for awhile. With February being a week away and me still excited to workout in the morning. Thats big win. Even bigger still , my husband has also started a health journey and has lost a lot of weight and started going to the gym and meal preppping.”
Eric Beebe

Eric Beebe

Eric Beebe is a remote participant for our U-22 challenge which began on January 3. In just over four weeks he has seen tremendous results. Eric does CrossFit three times a week and also swims three times a week. With a 6’5 build, Eric is not a small man. During this short time, his weight has dropped from 265-251. He even spent ten days of this challenge in Las Vegas for work eating out every night with clients. He took the time before hand to check out the restaurant menus so he could make a conscious, smart choice for his meals. When at home he and his wife have been more intentional about meal prepping, and his daughters are even becoming interested and asking questions about health and nutrition. Now they even want to meal prep for school lunches! No better way to teach your children than lead by example.

Melissa VanBibber

Melissa VanBibber

Melissa joined the U-22 Challenge that began on January 3. Melissa admits before the challenge she was struggling to lose weight on her own. She was trying a lot of different things, but was unable to find the success she was looking for. She wanted and needed to try something different. So far she has lost 10 pounds, and seen major progress in her strength and hitting PRs!
With the U-22 Challenge, Melissa has found sustainability. “I feel like I can totally keep this up. The changes I have made are ones that set me up for success and to feel great. I have loved having a group to support me at this stage of my life. I have the best accountability partners who have really helped me. I am so happy that I have gotten back to a morning routine that sets me up for a great day.”
Brian Culp

Brian Culp

Brian has been a valuable member of our UAA community for years, and most recently has been taking part in our U-22 Challenge. Here is what Brian has to say about his time with us at Unbreakable.
“I have been working with Unbreakable Athletics since 2018 and Unbreakable Nutrition and Fitness since February 2021. The results have been phenomenal … when I follow the program.
During the first half of 2021 I dropped my weight and decreased my body fat to about 18%. I was incredibly proud, but decided it was time to move from a calorie deficit to a maintenance level.
Unfortunately, my brain took this as an excuse to just go completely off the reservation and lose all discipline with food. I kept up the workouts and continued to gain muscle, but the fat came back too and in December, my body fat was back up to about 24%
I joined the U-22 program because I needed a refresher course in nutrition and I wanted the accountability of having a group. It’s been a success. I’ve lost about 10 pounds and I have been enjoying the discipline that comes with being in a program that requires record keeping and reporting to a group.
Sure, there are things I still need to do, like make some real headway with my reading, but getting to know my accountability partner and sharing with our group has made the process easier to handle.
When the challenge is finished, I will be better equipped to handle this on my own … most of the time. I still hope to be able to do some periodic check-ins because the accountability is important.”
Jordan Walters

Jordan Walters

Jordan Walters was coming up on her 6 month anniversary at UAA, and while she felt like she had made great strides in her strength, she had hit a plateau. She then joined the U-22 Challenge. Read about her experience below!
“I did a body scan one month into the U22 challenge, and compared to my body scan three months before. In that time I had lost 7 pounds of overall weight, 3% body fat, but gained 1.5 points of skeletal muscle mass. I have learned that getting better at workouts takes more than training your body during classes. You have to train your mind to work towards and plan for success. You have to train your body to rest and recover, and you have to train your body through the foods you put into it. If you want to see full-body results, you have to focus on full-body care. I have gotten better at incorporating protein consciously into all of my meals. I prep better for the week as well as for when we eat out. I check the menu choices before hand so that eating out doesn’t derail my entire nutrition plan, and I get to try some delicious new dishes at places I already enjoy. Taking these choices into consideration in the future is a simple way to keep moving forward in my goals. Doing this challenge and focusing on nutrition has helped reawaken my love of cooking. I have always enjoyed it, but having to focus on multiple nutrients has helped expand my meal repertoire and gotten me out of an anti-cooking slump. I love including my kids in the meal process as well. My son is getting good at taking something we like to eat like rice or noodles, and helping me pick out what protein and veggie components to add to it, which I think is pretty amazing for an almost-4-year-old! This challenge has further shown me that the UAA community is here to support each other and help each other along the way. I am excited to take this challenge along with me into the future and see how I can keep improving both in terms of nutrition and in strength.”
Chad Miller

“I had heart surgery in December 2020. During that procedure, it was discovered that I had a 100% blockage of one pulmonary artery and 80% blockage of another. In the words of my cardiologist, it was not IF I had a heart attack but WHEN. I was 44, the age my father died of a heart attack. For years, I always put my health on the back burner while I allowed my kids to work on their goals. It was this surgery that made me realize I could no longer do that, or I would not be around for my kids. This is what brought my family to UAA. A place where both my daughter and I can work on our goals at one place. We joined in August 2021. After 4 months of hard work, I was seeing improvements in myself, but not as much as I would have liked. My diet, although not terrible, was lacking in the quality it needed to support crossfit training. I needed the proper nutrition guidance to support my goals so I joined the U-22 challenge. I have lost 14 lbs since January 1st. The weight loss is nice, but it does not reflect the true change in my body. Strength gains have been off the chart as I am setting a PR at nearly every workout. Proper nutrition is enabling my body to build and recover much better than before. A big think you to Jim, Jen, and Kate heading up the U22 challenge. Also a big thanks to the coaches and fellow members of UAA. You are what makes the community great!”
